A Whisky Delight Over Rock and Rap

I was pleasantly surprised with a recent visit to Hollywood’s legendary “Whisky A-Go-Go” where I went to check out a newly planted Hip Hop artist from Chicago going by the name “Chef Sean” and his band Blaze. Hip Hop experiences at the Whisky for me have been hit or miss, and I know of him more from his acting in such movies as “Jason’s Lyric” and a upcoming horror film “Teeth & Blood” where I was surprised to find out he not only wrote the title track, but 4 of the songs on the sound track.
That being said I figured another (Actor/Singer-songwriter), and the music being described as a fusion of Hip Hop and classic rock I was at least expecting a good show, but I was blown away by their performance.  Chef Sean and Hype-man Relione fronted one of the hardest rocking 4-piece bands around. The band “Blaze”, made up of guitarists Frank Guthrie on Lead rhythm, Scott Stratton on Rhythm Lead, one wicked bass player/ singer Jeff Gilbert, and drummer Jim Xavier round out the crew.

Chef Sean and Relione weren’t messing around, slinging catchy lyrics with their Chi-town swag, backed by the cutting edge power-rock sound of Blaze made for a very unique combination. Songs like “The Paper”, “Dude Said”, “Freaks of the Industry”, and “The Anecdote”,  just to name a few, ending with the title track “Teeth and Blood” made for a well-rounded set of music. By the end of the show the place was roaring. I was definitely not alone in appreciation for such a commanding performance.
 In my opinion Chef Sean & Blaze are respectfully, a force to be reckoned with. Look out for these guys; they’re blazing a trail of Hip Hop-Rock fusion, up the ladder of success.
