‘Book’d in Burbank’ Season Finale Raises Civic Awareness

LOS ANGELES - Sept. 9, 2013 - PRLog -- LOS ANGELES, CA – Book’d in Burbank ends a successful inaugural season with a program to honor National Coming Out Day observed during LGBT History Month.  The upcoming bookish social gathering, hosted by Liz D Publicity & Promotions, is scheduled on October 10th from 8:00-9:30 P.M. at Theatre Banshee in the Magnolia Park section of Burbank. Season finale festivities are to include: a special LGBTQ memoir reading and readings by mystery, romance, young adult (YA) fiction authors, a books giveaway and book lovers gift basket raffle, stand-up comedy, a complimentary dessert and mingling reception, and a book drive to benefit Southern California Foster Family and Adoption Agency.

Author and blogger Paul Vitagliano (a.k.a. DJ Paul V.) is confirmed to read from his LGBTQ memoir Born This Way: Real Stories of Growing Up Gay.  Based on Paul’s blog of the same name, Born This Way is a collective memoir of personal childhood stories that share the humorous and heartbreaking experiences of growing up gay. “Book’d in Burbank is thrilled to support the LGBT community by sharing Born This Way with local book lovers,” says Liz Donatelli, Liz D Publicity & Promotions PR Director, “It’s important to expose our fans to books that educate and inspire, as well as to entertain.”

The distinguished panel of Los Angeles-based authors is rounded out by award-winning mystery author Rochelle Staab, forensic handwriting examiner and mystery author Sheila Lowe, steamy romance suspense author Dee J. Adams, award-winning mystery novelist and paranormal romance author Harley Jane Kozak, and YA dystopian/sci-fi lite co-authors Dana Melton and Jessica Alexander, who write under the name Kirby Howell.

Book’d is supported by Shelf Pleasure, a destination website for women who love to read,  The Book Fiend, an online shop that designs and creates t-shirts and gifts for book lovers, and Book Purses, a “fictional alterations” boutique that specializes in crafting purses made from books.
