| ![]() EU Legislation Update on the Import of Feed and Food from JapanThe European Union has announced Commission Regulation (EU) No 495/2013(1) in the Official Journal on 29 May 2013 amending the special conditions governing the import of feed and food originating fromJapan of Regulation (EU) No 996/2012.(2)
In accordance with the Implementing Regulation (EU) No 996/2012, the results of sampling and analysis for the presence of Caesium-134 and 137provided by the Japanese authorities for the period between September 2012 and January 2013 have been reviewed. Following the detailed assessment of this data, scallops, pome fruit, pawpaws, pome fruit processed products, pears, taro, yacon, and yacon processed products will be removed from the list of products for which sampling and analysis of radioactivity are required before export. While fish and fishery products, fresh bovine meat, buckwheat and processed products, lotus root lotus root processed products, threeleaf, arrowroot and threeleaf arrowroot processed products will be added to that list. To Be Removed from the List: No radioactivity analysis required before export. - Scallop (CN codes: 0307 21, 0307 29 and 1605 52 00) - Pomegranate and pawspaws (CN codes: 0810 90 75) - Pomegranate processed products (CN codes: 0811 90 19, 0811 90 39, 0811 90 95, 0812 90 98, 0813 40 95) - Pears (CN codes: 0808 30 10) - Taro (Colocasiaesculenta) - Yacon (Smallanthussonchifolius) To Be Added to the List: Radioactivity analysis required before export. - Fish and fishery products (CN codes: 1504 10, 1504 20, 1604 and 1605) - Fresh bovine meat (CN codes: 0201, 0202, 0206 10, 0206 2100, 0206 2200, 0206 29, 0504 and 1502) - Buckwheat and processed products (CN codes: 1008 10 00, 1102 9090, 1103 19 90, 1103 20 90, 1104 19 99, 1104 29 17, 1104 29 30, 1104 29 59, 1104 29 89, 1104 30 90, 1901,1904 10 90, 1904 20 99, 1904 90 80 and 1905 90) - Lotus root and processed products (CN codes: 0709 99, 0711 90, 0712 90 and 1211 90) - Threeleaf, arrowroot and processed products (CN codes: 0714 90) This Regulation applies from 29 May 2013.
