Plumb Center backs The Water Label

SALISBURY, U.K. - July 1, 2013 - PRLog -- Plumb Center is delighted to announce its support for the Bathroom Manufacturer’s Association’s water-efficiency labeling scheme, The Water Label.

The scheme, which is similar to the energy-efficiency labels on electrical appliances, will make it much easier for householders to choose water efficient bathroom products when designing their bathroom.

Plumb Center, along with manufacturers and retailers throughout the industry, promises to raise awareness of water stress and to promote responsible use of this most precious of resources. Many people are unaware that utility bills are often a household’s second biggest expense after the mortgage/rent, so choosing water efficient bathroom products has a direct impact on outgoings, as well as helping to ease water stress.

Tim Pollard, Head of Sustainability at Plumb Center said: “In the UK, we are using water at an unsustainable rate and water stress is a big problem that will only get worse. By helping homeowners to choose water efficient bathroom products easily, not only will The Water Label scheme help the environment, but in an age of rising water bills it will help householders to save cash too. Plumb Center is proud to be part of this initiative.”

The Water Label scheme will move towards full labelling of bathroom products for water efficiency by the end of 2014. The next Plumb Center Trade Price Guide and Bathroom Brochure will contain water-labelled products and an awareness campaign will be taking place in branches, with posters being displayed.
