Follow on Google News | Gordon Skinner's Hauntingly Beautiful Commissioned Painting for DocumentaryArtist Gordon Skinner creates a commissioned painting for the documentary "The Invisible Ones" about a school of children in Haiti destined to be visible. With some help from American artists.
By: Gordon Skinner Art Ordinarily reluctant as an artist to do commissioned work, Gordon made an exception being inspired by the story to create a piece that he felt captured the spirit of how the children must feel. In the painting he titled "Forsi", the bold colors are important and were carefully chosen. The color red, which surrounds a great deal of the figure, he says symbolizes the hellish conditions they're faced with. The yellow is symbolic of the sun, looking forward to a brighter future each day. The figure is determined to make itself visible despite any adversity. A perfect marriage of an artist's vocabulary and the mission and goals of the documentary. The film is directed by Lance Cain, a filmmaker who received an Emmy award for his work on the documentary "Paul McCartney in Red Square". Screenings for the documentary are scheduled to take place this summer.
