June 8, 2013 - PRLog -- Stamford, CT - “We day dream every day and dream every night”. This phrase at its essence describes the concept behind the full length album “Sleepwalking” by Jahan Nostra. To delve deeper, as humans we all experience dreams from the unconscious mind when sleeping. What do they mean? Are they trying to tell you something? Why does it seem so real? Likewise, we all have aspirations that we call dreams.  Our ability to manifest what we know as dreams into reality is an important concept to grasp. These ideas and philosophies are some of the topics Jahan puts himself up to tackle on “Sleepwalking” through song narratives. The album maintains an even tone and theme throughout its 18 songs produced entirely by producer Poppa Pill (Rakim, Saigon) with the exception of two songs by producers Mr. B and Colossus respectively. The production is a mixture of hard drums from an MPC, chopped eerie sound and vocal samples in addition to some live instrumentation.

The theories on dreams by Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud may come to mind, but Jahan also cites
Paulo Coehlo, author of  The Alchemist, investigative journalist Gary Webb and film director Antoine Fuqua as influences for the album. Despite living in a time when most music is purchased digitally, the physical album’s packaging is made in great detail. The artwork adds to the experience of being in a dream like world. The end result is a loosely conceptual album made to create a dialogue and push the boundaries of what music can be.

“Sleepwalking” will be released June 20 and available digitally through all digital channels including iTunes and Amazon, as well as the physical CD which comes in a 6-panel digipak. There will be an album release and listening party  for the album on June 20th starting at 9pm. With the listening session taking place from 9-10pm and the party from 10pm until closing. This will take place at Sono Lounge , Norwalk, CT 06854.
