The North End is an extremely historic neighborhood in the United States and is well known throughout the country and the world.  The North End is home to many restaurants and pastry shops such as Mike’s Pastries.  It offers many historical sites and stories from the old days during the American Revolution and the China trade period in the early 1800s.

Today, the North End is a densely populated Boston neighborhood. The neighborhood lies right off of I-93, with its eastern front surrounded by The West End.  On the west lies the Boston Harbor, under which a tunnel connects the North End to East Boston.  To the south is South Boston, and to the North is Cambridge/Somerville.

The North End is accessed by the MBTA like many other Boston neighborhoods.  The MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority) Orange and Green Lines run right through the North End, via the Haymarket stop.  The Red Line has two stops close by, Charles / MGH and Downtown Crossing.  The Blue Line Aquarium Station is also close by.  Local bus routes also run through the North End and connect the North End to the rest of the city.  Some of these bus routes are: 4, 93, 111, 191, 192, 428, 193, 325, 325 and 352.  While parking is extremely difficult in the North End due to its dense population and small geographic region, the North End is accessible via a variety of roads like I-90 and Storrow Drive.

The North End is a historic neighborhood for many reasons.  It has a mixture of architecture from all periods of American history, including The Old North Church, the Paul Revere House, the Pierce-Hichborn House and the Clough House.  Most of the architecture in the North End was built in the 19th and 20th centuries.  Every summer, people who live in the North End have a feast to honor different saints from Italy.  As the cost of renting an apartment in the North End continues to rise, many people are seeking more affordable options where they can often get more value for their money.  People who are interested in the North End often find it out of their price range and look in surrounding areas such as East Boston and South Boston.  At the end of the 1800s, the North End became densely populated with small restaurants that served inexpensive meals.  Many grocery stores, cafes, restaurants are in the North End today and as a result it has become a very popular tourist destination.  Today, the North End commands higher rental prices that nearly all other areas, as displayed on www.northendpads.com.  Data suggests that the North End Rents are very similar to many parts of Beacon Hill, Back Bay, The South End and Downtown Boston.

Home to American patriot Paul Revere, the North End is one of Boston’s most historic neighborhoods.  Tourists come from near and far to sample authentic Italian cuisine, enjoy a cannoli or a cappuccino, and explore its narrow streets. In recent years, a number of boutiques have opened in the North End specializing in everything from trendy clothing to jewelry. The North End also offers access to Boston’s waterfront along Commercial Street. Residents and visitors can enjoy strolling and relaxing in the newly renovated Christopher Columbus Park, and during summer evenings the park is host to a performing arts series.

The North End has many different aspects of public art as well.  It features the Christopher Columbus structure built in 1979, Massachusetts Beirut Memorial built in 1992, Benjamin Franklin Tablet built in 1946, Merchant Marine Memorial, Paul Revere sculpture built in 1940, and North End Library Mosaics built in 2009 and located at 25 Parmenter Street.
