Saint-Saëns "Fantaisie" transcribed for flute by Peter H. Bloom
June 18, 2013 - PRLog -- Noteworthy Sheet Music, LLC (NSM) is a young music publishing enterprise that has built an inventory of over 100 unique editions, all of which are available as convenient pdf downloads.  NSM specializes in, but is not limited to, sheet music for flute and alto flute.  They offer original contemporary works by distinguished American composers, facsimile editions of rare historical scores, and unique transcriptions of pieces from the classical repertoire.  NSM recently added several exciting new sheet music selections to its online catalog:

“Kleemation” is a work for flute and piano written by the acclaimed contemporary composer Elizabeth Vercoe.  The piece is in five short movements that were inspired by five drawings by the Swiss-born artist Paul Klee.  Peter H. Bloom and Mary Jane Rupert, who concertize as the duo “2”, have performed “Kleemation” frequently on tour, and their recording of the piece for the recently-released CD "Kleemation and Other Works by Elizabeth Vercoe" has received high praise in critical reviews.  The sheet music for “Kleemation” is available from Noteworthy Sheet Music.

Flutists now have access to a remarkable transcription of the alluring “Fantaisie” Op.124 by Camille Saint-Saëns.  A staple of the repertoire for violin & harp, the piece is also ideally suited for flute (and harp).  Flutist Peter H. Bloom's transcription, like no other, captures the essence of the composer's work in all its virtuosity, intensity, and musical spirit.  Changes to the violin part were made with the intention of conserving Saint-Saëns’ ingenious creation; this transcription reflects a decade of study, experimentation, adjustment, and performance of the work by Mr. Bloom.

“Play of Light was written by Richard Nelson, classical and jazz composer and professional jazz guitarist.  Dr. Nelson also is Professor of Music and head of the Sonic Arts and Composition Concentration at the University of Maine at Augusta.  “Play of Light”, for flute (doubling piccolo and bass flute) and harp, is built around spaciousness, transparency, multi-hued shadings and playful chases.  The incorporation of bass flute and piccolo enhances the inherently rich color possibilities of the flute/harp combination—the three flute instruments in succession form a sort of "super-flute" in the work's final section.

Additional information about these and other NSM catalog listings is available on the group’s website at www.NoteworthySheetMusic.com.  Sheet music editions are uploaded regularly, so visit the website often to see what’s new and to preview pages of the sheet music editions.
