YANKALILLA, Australia - June 5, 2013 - PRLog -- Wakefield Grange, set to open on Tuesday 11 June 2013, is a new family-owned farmgate butchery located on the Fleurieu Peninsula, dedicated to providing locally-reared, grass-fed and hormone-free beef and lamb that is butchered on the premises.

Established by Sophie and Nathen Wakefield on their 400-acre farm between Myponga and Yankalilla, Wakefield Grange is committed to offering premium quality meat raised on their own property and the local area, and they have carefully selected breeds suited to the lush green hills of The Fleurieu; their stock consists of Black Angus X Hereford cows and Border Leicester X Merino ewes, both chosen for the quality of their flavoursome and succulent meats.

“Because we butcher our own stock on the premises, our customers can be sure that they’re getting low fat, high protein meat that is fully traceable from paddock to plate,” said Sophie Wakefield, “and it also allows us to supply families with healthy, free-range meat in bulk at an affordable price.”

Wakefield Grange is dedicated to the traceability of its products and to supporting the local community, and so sources all of its grass-fed, free-range livestock from The Fleurieu Peninsula.  “We always aim to offer home grown produce whenever we can,” added Sophie Wakefield, “but when that’s not possible customers can rest assured that our stock is sourced from local Fleurieu farmers. This ensures limited cartage time for the stock, which is better for their wellbeing, the quality of the meat, and for the environment as well.”

Sophie and Nathen are committed to sharing their paddock to plate philosophy and offer open days that enable the public to visit their business and home in order to learn more about their stock and to see how the farm operates.

Customers can purchase Wakefield Grange meats by the side or full body, and there are two options of cuts available for both their lamb and beef. Wholesale enquiries are welcome and they also offer a commercial butchering service for local farmers.
