RACINE, Wis. - May 28, 2013 - PRLog -- The Racine Art Museum now has the largest contemporary crafts collection in the United States. Over the last 10 years, RAM's holdings of contemporary crafts and works on paper have nearly quadrupled. In celebration of the museum's 10th anniversary year in downtown Racine, Top 10 at 10: Favorites from RAM's Collection is on display through October 6, 2013.

Over the last decade, RAM's permanent holdings have grown from 2,200 to over 8,000 pieces. These numbers include works in ceramic, glass, wood, fiber, polymer, metal, and mixed media-from large pieces of furniture and sculpture to art jewelry and prints. Collecting over 500 works in 2012 alone, RAM averaged almost one-and-a-half new gifts per day last year.

This growth is an extraordinary accomplishment made possible by generous friends of Racine Art Museum and RAM's Charles A. Wustum Museum of Fine Arts, including new and returning visitors to both campuses.

The museum is dedicating the year of 2013 to acknowledging the importance of the local community in building, maintaining, and growing an institution. To honor these connections, RAM is encouraging the public to decide which works from the permanent collection they find most inspiring, interesting, and compelling.

From June 1 to September 1, visitors are invited to vote for their Top 10. Winning pieces will be highlighted this fall in an exhibition in RAM's galleries as well as online at ramart.org.

Top 10 at 10 is made possible at Racine Art Museum by: Presenting Sponsors - Karen Johnson Boyd and William B. Boyd, The Estate of Emile H. Mathis II, in Memory of his Parents: Emil H. and Anna T.
