SSCG to host Malawi SMEs Development Conference on Thursday 25 April in Lilongwe

OXFORD, U.K. - April 6, 2013 - PRLog -- Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) and entrepreneurs are the backbone of every economy including Malawi, supporting economic growth, creating employment opportunities and improving people livelihoods. However, they face unique challenges, which affect their potential, hence diminish their ability to contribute effectively to the country sustainable development.

Enterprises and entrepreneurs in Malawi  faces overwhelming challenges including: lack of  managerial skills, inadequate capital and access to finance, unsupportive business policies and regulatory environment, market competition, fast technological advancement, poor infrastructure, lack of market information and industry standards.

Businesses community, entrepreneurs and the Malawi government  need to play a leadership role as innovators, solution designers and drivers of investment and capacity building solutions, but this cannot accomplished easily and working alone.

Malawi SMEs Forum, Entrepreneurship and Business Linkages Development (MBLP) Initiative aim to create a collective platform to facilitate knowledge sharing, know how transfer, as well as build and accelerate public-private partnerships (PPPs)  that can reduce enterprise development risks, facilitate market research and development, solve business growth and financing challenges in Malawi.

To mobilise and coordinate the awareness and discuss various business solutions that are being and are to be implemented, SSCG in partnership with Foster Lewis and the Ministry of Trade and Industry will be hosting Malawi SMEs Development Conference on Thursday 25, Capital hotel, Lilongwe, from 13:00 – 17:00. Where business leaders, government officials, development agencies, private sector organisations and entrepreneurs will meet to discuss current economic growth plan and capacity building solutions.

The conference will offer compelling network opportunities afterwards, for experts and industry leaders to network and also to sign up of The 2013 Malawi Business Award, a prestigious event that will take place at the end of the year to awards fast growing companies, most innovative, new start-ups, entrepreneurs and  those that have created employment opportunities.
