McGladrey’s Bob Jirsa Named Outstanding Alumni of the Year by Loyola University of Maryland

BALTIMORE - April 3, 2013 - PRLog -- BALTIMORE (April 3, 2013) – McGladrey LLP, the leading U.S. provider of assurance, tax and consulting services focused on the middle market, is pleased to announce that Bob Jirsa, assurance partner for the firm’s Baltimore, MD office, has been named Outstanding Alumni of the Year by Loyola University of Maryland Sellinger School of Business Department of Accounting.  

“Bob epitomizes alumni who make Loyola University Maryland, and the Sellinger School, proud: individuals who demonstrate commitment to leading in their communities as well as in their fields,” said Dr. Karyl Leggio, Dean, Sellinger School of Business. “It is only when gifted leaders such as Bob commit their time and expertise to their profession and to the Greater Baltimore area that sustainable change is achieved.”

Jirsa was selected by the Department of Accounting faculty for his professional accomplishments and successes in the field of accounting; demonstrated character and integrity; civic and community involvement; and his interest and involvement in and loyalty to the university. He has been active in the Accounting Alumni Circle, recruited many Loyola students/graduates for internships and employment, mentored accounting major undergraduates, provided advice and support to faculty members and several chairs, and was instrumental in the recruitment of the recently announced department head.    

“Bob has demonstrated ongoing interest in supporting Loyola's Accounting Department as the accounting profession has changed over time,” said Andrea Giampetro-Meyer, J.D., Interim Chair, Accounting Department. “In his leadership role at McGladrey, he has assisted Loyola students seeking jobs in New York, New Jersey and Baltimore. Bob has also served as an invaluable resource to the faculty, providing content knowledge in a range of areas, especially IFRS. Bob has demonstrated loyalty to Loyola's Accounting Department by continually seeking ways to strengthen McGladrey's partnership with the University.”  

Jirsa graduated with a B. A. degree in accounting from Loyola University. He currently serves as a member of the Loyola University Accounting Advisory Board and as a member of the leadership team of the university’s Accounting Alumni Association. Jirsa is an active member in numerous community and business organizations. He will be honored at the Loyola University of Maryland Sellinger School of Business Department of Accounting’s annual Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) banquet on April 18, 2013.
