Feb. 20, 2013 - PRLog -- Lonas Lorenzo (http://specialtyfabricsreview.com/articles/0709_ew50_lonas.html), the company chosen to build the wide body hangar, has been building the structural parts and transporting them to the Cd. Obregon Airport industrial park (https://maps.google.com/maps?q=27%C2%B023'18.75%22+N+109%C2%B049'31.18%22+W&hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=27.389511,-109.823939&spn=0.002748,0.005284&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=40.052282,86.572266&t=h&z=18) in Sonora Mexico.  During this time, QET Tech Aerospace has been busy negotiating with the airport the terms and condition which have finally been agreed on.  One of the conditions was that the DGAC had to approve the project which was completed in December 2012.

“QET Tech Aerospace's hangar going up” does not only represent brick and mortar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brick_and_mortar), we are going up in all aspects in building our heavy maintenance airframe repair station.  We are building this MRO from a blank sheet of paper so we can take advantage of all the innovations and experience that exists in the industry to build it right the first time.  We chose the top advisers in the industry like SH&E (http://www.icfi.com/markets/aviation) and the Rothschild Group (http://www.rothschild.com/) Mexico.  We are adopting a Lean Six-Sigma (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lean_Six_Sigma) culture for a focus on the customer, continuous improvement and eliminating waste.  Certification is a requirement for all management for continued employment.  For some example, we are designing very efficient production processes which are highly transparent.  It will not be necessary to go to a time consuming meeting to find out what issues need attention.  A walk through the hangar or ware house is all that will be need to see if and where the issue which need attention are.  No time for a walk, then just look at the computer dashboard which customers have access too.  Also, every effort is made to ensure mechanic time is maximized on the aircraft, no waiting for parts or printing procedures.  Mechanic are handed pre-assembled kits which include the procedures, the right tools and parts necessary to each task right by the plane being worked on.  This comes from highly developed ware house processes." says Mike Dornenburg.  He continues

"With the utmost respect to Quality, Environment and Timeliness (QET) we will provide the fastest low cost service.

As for our ‘low cost service’ we will be giving new meaning to "Ultra-Low-Cost-MRO"; a term coined in a Mercier article (http://www.oliverwyman.com/media/AAD05LeanMRO-CompPosition.pdf).  We are in a position to complete with Asia pricing at a minimum downtime.  Except for the structural inspections (NDT) we focus on the labor issues surrounding a heavy check and is the area we can save our customers the most money; everything else is outsourced.  Engine and component MRO work would go to our supply chain or where ever the customer wants.  As seen in the chart, Latin America can easily compete with the in the market especially with the LEAN concepts are being deployed in our new repair station.

Our "drop in" labor rate is very aggressive for all trades including our newly approved capability of non-Destructive Testing (NDT).  This is of course is negotiable for any contract which will cover more than a single visit.  We work 24/7 and DO NOT charge overtime. Without extra cost, we include things which people expect when they pick up their aircraft after a heavy maintenance check like an:

·          - Aircraft washing, including the gears.

·          - Interior cleaning and organizing, ready for flight

Our business model is about having high volumes and minimizing down time.  We have been building this project with extreme low cost overhead which means we do not have any long term financial obligations.  This is allowing us to pass on the savings of low interest debt to our customers".

CEN international airport operating hours are from 6:00 to 18:00 seven days a week but will allow arrivals anytime after by simply providing advance notice to the airport or QET Tech Aerospace.  The airport has a 7,546 foot runway with a PCN of 68/R/B/X/T capable of wide body aircraft landings.
