Lead Actor In Arbor Avenue Films’ "Star and the Snowman" Starring in CATCO’s Production of "Red"

Feb. 19, 2013 - PRLog -- Today, Arbor Avenue Films, in partnership with Never the Luck Productions, announced that the lead actor in their joint production of Star and the Snowman is appearing in CATCO’s production of Red,  Feb. 13 – March 13.

Actor Kevin McClatchy (Unstoppable, Love and Other Drugs, X-Files) portrays artist Mark Rothko in the Tony-award winning play. McClatchy will play the lead role in Star and the Snowman, the tale of two people searching for "normal" in a world of death, betrayal and revenge. The filmmakers’ crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/230353252/star-and-the-snowman?ref=home_social, is nearing its goal of $8,000 in funding to shoot the film’s winter scenes in Ohio.

“Having worked with Kevin on past theatre and film projects, I knew he was right for the lead role in ‘Star and the Snowman,’” said Phil Garrett, producer, Arbor Avenue Films. “He brings a palpable energy and reality to his performances. As an actor, Kevin fully commits to any role and elevates the material.”  

“Kevin is a fine actor and we are not surprised in his success on stage,”  said John Whitney, director, Arbor Avenue Films. “He is an example of the quality of actors who will be cast in all the roles in ‘Star and the Snowman.’”

The production team includes Columbus radio personality and filmmaker Dino Tripodis of Never the Luck Productions, who serves as a producer and plays a key role in the film, and local award-winning filmmakers Garrett and Whitney.

“Kevin McClatchy is one of those actors who smoothly and expertly transitions from stage to screen, with the one common denominator being his commitment and intensity to each and every role he plays. He is our SNOWMAN and we couldn't be more thrilled about it,” said Tripodis.

Together, Whitney, Tripodis and Garrett have 20+ years of filmmaking experience. Their work has screened internationally and garnered awards including a Chris Award from the Columbus International Film & Video Festival, Best Short Film from the Indie Gathering, and an audience favorite award from Shockfest. Arbor Avenue Films is also a two-time winner of Best of Show, Best Editing and Best Actor awards from the Underneath Cincinnati Film Festival.
