FBC Sterling Collaborates with Outside the Walls Ministry-Gainesville Providing Thanksgiving Dinners

First Baptist Church of Sterling collaborates with Outside the Walls Ministry-Gainesville to serve Thanksgiving Dinners to those less fortunate this holiday season.

Dec. 5, 2012 - PRLog -- Sterling, VA – First Baptist Church of Sterling, (“FBCS”) where everybody is somebody, collaborated with Outside the Walls Ministry-Gainesville (“OTWMG”) to provide Thanksgiving dinners one week before the actual Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at the Consumer Wellness Center (“CWC”) in Falls Church, Virginia.  “The challenges that more and more families are facing with the sluggish economy, underemployment and severe weather this year, it’s an opportunity for OTWMG to work with FBCS in taking care of our community,” noted OTWMG Executive Director Lonnie Ford.

In addition, FBCS and OTWMG distribute food monthly at 8:00am on the 4th Saturday of each month in the church.  In an effort to use social media and online resources, FBCS held online registration for families wishing to receive a Thanksgiving basket.  Thanksgiving basket food collection began in mid October and included traditional staples for Thanksgiving dinner.

Noted FBCS pastor Bishop Leslie E. Patterson, Jr., “The book of Acts instructs all that have to come together so that we might share with those who have not.  FBCS felt that OTWMG was the perfect partner to illustrate this point and to live out our mission that everybody is somebody, and to that end we are proud to be working with their team.”
