PRLog -- Sterling, VA – First Baptist Church of Sterling Virginia (“FBCS”) the church where everybody is somebody, hosts a weekly Breakfast Buffet each Sunday from 9:30am to 10:45am between their 8:00am and 11:00am services. The breakfast, which is open to the public, features traditional entrées, fresh seasonal fruit, pastries, as well as hot and cold beverages. Wanting to enhance their presence in the community, FBCS determined that there was an opportunity to open its doors, and, a member contacted two professional chefs based in the Northern Virginia area. The chefs, who alternate preparing meals, strive to put a taste of the Caribbean, Italian specialties and pastries, and even a little bit of Southern cuisine to ensure the buffet has something for everyone’s palate. The buffet consists of original recipes as well as standard fare, basic breakfast foods, fresh seasonal fruit buffet bar, as well as meat alternatives to pork bacon and sausage; turkey bacon or beef sausage. Two new items were recently introduced that have quickly become favorites, croissant pudding and Rachel Ray’s broiled tomatoes round out the wide-ranging menu. The buffet is complimentary for first time visitors who present a special coupon they receive upon entry to FBCS services and FBCS pastor Bishop Patterson noted that FBCS wanted to extend a unique welcome to visitors and the community in a more personal way and everyone loves good food. Said Patterson, “It’s our way of giving back to the community and to welcome visitors to FBCS; it’s economical, healthy good food prepared by professional chefs, and a fun way to fellowship with family and make new friends.” Patterson went on to say that “I understand the chefs have already begun planning special holiday menus and promise to be filled with favorites for everyone, especially at a time when everyone is looking to get good value for their money.”
The buffet has quickly become a weekly ritual for FBCS members and has caught on with first time visitors and the community looking for a church home, or just a place where they can get good food at reasonable prices. No reservations are required and all are welcome to stay after breakfast for the 11:00am service. FBCS minister and CEO of Outside the Walls Ministry Rev. Patricia Ford noted, “that it’s really a wonderful way for us to reach out to the community and for them to get to know FBCS while enjoying Sunday breakfast. My family really enjoys the opportunity to have a good hot meal with our church family each week, we really miss it when we are visiting another church on Sunday or are away on travel.”
