Nov. 3, 2012
-- The application for the three-month online Playwrighting Intensive taught by Cape Cod-based author and playwright Devon Ellington has been extended to November 20, 2012, due to Hurricane Sandy. Interested parties who wanted to apply by the November 1 deadline and could not due to the storm have the additional 20 days to get in their applications. Decisions will still be announced by December 1, so those who applied early will not have to wait to hear back.
The three-month, online class runs from January 2 - April 2, 2013. Participants will develop, draft, and revise either a full-length play, or an evening of short plays that link together. Participants will also read and discuss both classical and contemporary plays. Expect the course to require 12-20 hours per week of work. Entrance is application-
based and competitive. While one does not need previous playwrighting experience, a solid foundation in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and structure are required, which will be demonstrated via a prose writing sample. The course cost $375 for the full three months.
