Follow on Google News | Writers Who Have Never Met, Write Award Winning ScriptWriting partners Garry Berman of Westampton, NJ and Kelly Marie Thompson of Newcastle, England have placed in the Top 10 of a national writing competition for their TV pilot script despite the fact that they have never met face-to-face.
By: MoonGlow PR After meeting on a message board for British sitcoms, Berman and Thompson began sharing their writings with each other via email. Garry was so impressed after reading the first 10 pages of Kelly’s draft of the ‘Barkers Upon Tyne’ script, that he offered to help, and after only 8 weeks they had completed six episodes of their Britcom. ‘Barkers Upon Tyne’ is a British comedy about three siblings in their 20s living together in Newcastle and often interfering in each other’s lives. Having completed six episodes with British television in mind, Mr. Berman and Ms. Thompson are now in the process of creating an American version, enabling them to submit their work to both British and American agents.The pair has also completed three other sitcom pilot scripts that they have been submitting to the BBC, and also recently completed a feature-length comedy screenplay. Garry Berman is a lifelong Anglophile and lives in Westampton, NJ. He is the author of several pop culture books, including: Best of the Britcoms, We’re Going to See The Beatles! and Perfect Fool: The Life and Career of Ed Wynn. Kelly Thompson lives in Newcastle, England, and in addition to her comedy writing skills, is equally talented writing science fiction stories and scripts.
