| “Punchy and Inspirational” Movie PLANEAT Showing at Whistler Public Library on September 11PLANEAT will be screening at Whistler Public Library with Registered Holistic Nutritionist Sandy Davies hosting a question and answer session after the movie. Tuesday, September 11 at 7pm. Admission by donation.
Earthsave Whistler has teamed up with Whistler Public Library to bring the community a free screening of PLANEAT, a documentary that demonstrates the links between certain foods and the environment, and explores the relationships between certain foods and diseases such as cancer and heart disease. But this film will do more than enlighten viewers on their food choices and help them select healthier options; this film will leave viewers salivating over the incredible meals that are shown throughout the movie. The filmmakers knew the way to the audiences’ hearts was through their stomachs and included plenty of footage of talented chefs and their mouthwatering creations. “What I love most about this movie is the food they show. Wow! I want to go and dine at each and every one of the restaurants featured in this film. You don’t need to live on carrot sticks and sprouts to benefit your health and the environment, and the chefs in the movie demonstrate this very well. Viewers will leave the movie feeling hungry and will be eagerly searching out recipes on their smartphones as they are walking out the door.” Hayley Ingman, Co-Founder, Earthsave Whistler. Earthsave Whistler has invited local Registered Holistic Nutritionist Sandy Davies to lead the discussion after the movie. Sandy is well known to many members of the community as she hosts the Nutrition Walks at Nester’s market every Thursday morning. As a Registered Holistic Nutritionist (RHN), Sandy is equipped to manage health on multiple levels. Her passion is to educate others about the effects and importance of food and nutrition on overall health and wellbeing. Presently Sandy is adding to her skillset by spending many hours in the kitchen experimenting with gluten free baking and food preparation. She has trained with Janice Skoreyko, founder of RAW Foundation, and has become a certified raw food chef. Sandy believes that food is the foundation of our health and wellness. Hayley Ingman and Jennie Small, founders of Earthsave Whistler, believe viewers will find this movie very upbeat and inspiring and it will leave them wanting to find out more. Earthsave Whistler provides information and support to those wanting to make changes to their diets, and hosts events where people can share healthy food together and meet other people who are also on a road to healthier, more environmentally friendly eating. DOCUMENTARY SYNOPSIS PLANEAT is the story of three men's life-long search for a diet, which is good for our health, good for the environment and good for the future of the planet. With an additional cast of pioneering chefs and some of the best cooking you have ever seen, the scientists and doctors in the film present a convincing case for the West to re-examine its love affair with meat and dairy. The film features the ground-breaking work of Dr. T Colin Campbell in China exploring the link between diet and disease, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn's use of diet to treat heart disease patients, and Professor Gidon Eshel's investigations into how our food choices contribute to global warming, land use and oceanic deadzones. With the help of some innovative farmers and chefs, PLANEAT shows how the problems we face today can be solved, without simply resorting to a diet of lentils and lettuce leaves. http://planeat.tv/ SELECTION OF REVIEWS “Should be compulsory viewing” - THE HERALD “Utterly compelling” - EMPIRE “Delicious” “Punchy and inspirational” “For fans of cookery programmes it is likely to be love at first sight” - ★★★★EYE FOR FILM “Earth-shattering” “Compelling scientific evidence” - ★★★TIME OUT “Shot in a kinetic, lascivious style” - SIGHT AND SOUND Event Details: Tuesday, September 11th at 7pm Whistler Public Library Admission by donation (which goes towards the cost of screening rights) Note: the room has a 50 person capacity so please arrive early to ensure entry http://www.earthsavewhistler.com/ Use of the community room generously donated by Whistler Public Library.
