First Class Concepts Cheers on the Olympic Torch in Scotland

The Olympic Torch finally entered Scotland and the team at First Class Concepts were on hand to wave it past.

June 11, 2012 - PRLog -- With the Olympic flame’s epic journey around the UK well under way, the people of Scotland were keen for it to make its way north. On Friday direct sales and marketing company First Class Concepts were as proud as anyone as the torch made its way across the border and started its seven day tour of the country. During its visit the torch will be taking in some of the Scotland’s major landmarks and First Class Concepts’ home town of Glasgow.

The Olympic Torch started its journey at 6am at the port of Stranraer and the first Scottish torchbearer was Ross McClelland, a soldier in the 2nd Scots, the Royal Regiment of Scotland. There are some 700 torchbearers in total carrying the flame around the country. The torch arrived at Hampden Stadium early on Friday afternoon, Hollywood actor James McAvoy helping it on its way as he ran with the torch down Buchanan Street. A number of the team from First Class Concepts attended the open-air party in George Square on Friday evening and enjoyed entertainment by Eliza Doolittle and Emeli Sande.

Some 92 torchbearers carried the torch from Glasgow to Inverness on Saturday via Luss, Tarbet and toured the Highlands. It also travelled across Loch Ness by boat and visited the RockNess music festival which was taking place at Dores over the weekend. About 17,000 people turned out on Saturday night for a celebration concert in Inverness.

How does First Class Concepts feel about the arrival? A representative for the direct sales and marketing company said, “We’re so glad to have the torch here in Scotland at last, the huge numbers of people that turned out to wave the torch by just shows how excited people are about the Olympics. We all took an hour out of the First Class Concepts office on Friday to watch this historic moment. Olympic fever has well and truly swept through the country. We’re really looking forwards to hosting training camps for international athletes and also the football games during the actual games.”

The Olympic Torch will be taking in so of the most far-flung places in the UK during its tour of Scotland including Shetland, Orkney and the Outer Hebrides. The giant Olympic rings that have been erected in Glasgow’s George Square are a reminder of the important role that the city will play in the Olympics. First Class Concepts is counting down the days until the action really begins.
