June 6, 2012 - PRLog -- During a press conference this morning, it was announced that one of the biggest independent wrestling events to be held in the Southeast is coming to Winston Salem.

The Benton Convention Center in Winston Salem, NC will be the host of WrestleCade 2012. Some of the biggest legends of the sport will descend on the venue on Sunday the 25th of November 2012 including: Matt Hardy, Hurricane Helms, Rock n Roll Express, Boogie Woogie Man Jimmy Valiant, Raging Bull Manny Fernandez, Baby Doll, Russian Bear Ivan Koloff, Masked Superstar, CW Anderson, The Barbarian, Gunner, Colt Cabana and Ax from Demolition with the names of other wrestling icons being revealed over the next few weeks.

It was also announced during the press conference that WrestleCade will not only be a “family friendly event” but it will also a fundraiser for Christmas Toy Drive. Christmas Toy Drive partners with The Salvation Army to provide toys to less fortunate boys and girls during the Christmas season. In 2011, over 2,000 toys were collected and the goal for 2012 is to double, triple or quadruple this number. The goal of the WrestleCade organizers is to have a successful event that will help that number be reached.

“We are grateful for partnerships like this that can really make a difference,” said Major Kent Davis, Area Commander for The Salvation Army of Winston-Salem.

Bringing the extravaganza to the Triad area of North Carolina is also the premier event for Uncle Frank’s Championship Wrestling, or UFCW for short. UFCW and WrestleCade are both the brainchild of North Carolina entrepreneur and best selling author, Tracy Myers. Myers, who is also the owner of Frank Myers Auto Maxx in Winston Salem, said at the press conference this morning: “I grew up watching wrestling legends like Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan so I’ve always been a massive wrestling fan. In fact, my family attended the first 3 Starrcade events which were held on Thanksgiving and I’ve been hooked that moment on. So it’s a dream come true to be bringing a major wrestling event back to the Carolinas on Thanksgiving weekend as well as bringing in legends and multiple past champions from the WWE, WCW, TNA, ROH, ECW and NWA.”

Myers continued, “Since the information about WrestleCade leaked a few days ago, my representatives have been getting phone calls from past and current wrestling stars from all of the promotions like WWE, WWF, WCW, TNA, NWA, ECW and ROH just asking if they can be part of our show. This event promises to be one of the best! We are all excited”

Myers is also hoping to set an attendance record at the Benton Convention Center. This is one of the reasons why he chose this venue for the event: “Over the past few years, I’ve seen lots of great independent wrestling events held in smaller venues and barely have any attendance. When the Benton Convention Center contacted us and said we could hold our event there, we were eager but skeptical. Once we visited the venue, we knew it was perfect for WrestleCade. The thought of having 2,000+ wrestling fans in there alongside some of the world’s greatest wrestlers gives me goose bumps. We are confident that the event will be a complete sell out.”

The announcement that WrestleCade is coming to Winston Salem also represents a great opportunity for local businesses to get involved and be seen by 2,000+ people who are sure to be travelling to downtown Winston Salem from all around the country and especially the Southeast. One of those businesses already pledging support is one of Myers’ other business ventures, Frank Myers Auto Maxx. Myers said, “With this being a family friendly show, the profits going directly to an awesome organization like Christmas Toy Drive in addition to giving my dealership an opportunity to speak directly to potential customers..this is truly a win-win for all parties involved. I would like to encourage other local businesses to get involved. It’s inexpensive and is for a great cause.” Myers asked interested businesses to call him direct at 336-831-0646 for sponsorship and/or information about supporting WrestleCade and Christmas Toy Drive.

It was also announced that WCWG 20, YES! Weekly, Time Warner Media, 98.7 Simon, King's Hot Dogs, Hauser Rental, Sweepstakes University, Pull-A-Part Of Winston Salem, Brian Hawks and MD Ventures are all coming on board as sponsors with others to be announced shortly.
