“The software market is certainly big enough to sustain comfortable growth, but it is still only 5,73% of world demand. Due to the size of the home market German companies tend to focus mainly on this opportunity. The need for internationalization is often only realized at a late stage.

There are only few examples of global software industry market leaders of German origin. One of the issues is that the entire German consulting industry is focused on helping foreign software companies gain access to the German market. There is hardly any support for helping the German software industry with globalization. Thus the pool of people with international experience in the German software industry is and remains very small.
