June 1, 2012 - PRLog -- More than a decade after a rocky merger, Greta Noakes still remembers the pain caused by misjudging how well another company would fit with her firm.

"We maybe overlooked the bit with the culture," Noakes says in the June issue of "Real Estate Broker's Insider."

Noakes' ERA franchise in Findlay, OH, survived the setback of an acquisition that didn't live up to its promise. The details have faded, but she didn't forget the lesson. So when Noakes and her husband, decided to do another merger recently, they made sure to find a company with a compatible culture.

When they approached Coldwell Banker franchisee James Geyer about a merger, there was little concern about whetherthe marriage would work. "We found ourselves competing for the same clients and agents," Greta Noakes says.

Geyer felt a similar comfort level. "We knew it was going to be a fit because we had so much face time as competitors," he says.

Details on the successful creation of ERA Geyer-Noakes Realty Group appear in the June issue of "Real Estate Broker's Insider."
