Follow on Google News | Joseph O’brien Judges Buffalo Screams Screenplay CompetitionThe Buffalo Screams Horror Film Festival has landed screenplay and comic book writer Joseph O’Brien as a special guest judge for its screenplay competition.
By: Buffalo Screams Horror Film Festival “We’re strong believers in the importance of screenplays in the filmmaking process,” says filmmaker and author Gregory Lamberson (Slime City Massacre, Carnage Road), one of the festival’s directors, “and Joseph has proven himself a talented writer with a lot of insight into the industry and genre. I think things are going to break big for him when The Devil’s Mile is released, and we’re lucky to have him as a guest judge.” The Buffalo Screams screenplay competition features categories for best feature, medium length, short and student screenplays in the genres of horror, science fiction, and fantasy. O’Brien will serve as a judge on the feature screenplay panel. The winners will be announced at the Buffalo Screams awards banquet on Sunday, October 21st. The festival runs for six days at the Market Arcade Film and Arts Centre in Buffalo, New York, October 17th – 22nd. Actress and filmmaker Debbie Rochon serves as this year’s honorary chairperson. In addition to the third year festival’s regular film competition categories, this year’s roster includes a Faux Grindhouse Trailer competition with a $500 cash prize, and a local category for the Best Western New York Genre Film, in which shorts and features will compete with each other for the championship title.
