Avasant sponsors the Nearshore Nexus 2012 Conference in New York
Avasant is proud to sponsor the Nearshore Nexus 2012 Conference held on April 19, 2012 in New York. Avasant Global CEO, Kevin S. Parikh delivered a keynote speech at the conference on “Next Wave of Globalization X in Latin America”.
The event provided a platform to buyers of outsourcing services to connect, share and explore best practices in outsourcing industry. The primary focus of the conference was on IT services and BPO sectors in Latin America (LatAm) and Caribbean. Nearshore Nexus is the premiere outsourcing conference focused on LatAm IT services and BPO. The Nexus conference is designed to generate business-specific knowledge and dialogue about the opportunities, risks and advantages of developing strategic relationship in LatAm. The conference featured over 20 speakers, including top CIOs, sourcing advisors and delegates from more than 15 countries in the region.
The event was inaugurated with an engaging keynote address from Former President of Colombia, Alvaro Uribe, who stressed that LatAm is a large growing market of 600Mn people (half of them middle class) who are open for business. Due to progressive policies in countries such as Colombia and Chile, the region is now geo-politically quite stable, barring a few exceptions. The practice of Nearshoring has gone from “novel to mainstream”. Multilateral institutions like IDB are creating a conducive business environment in LatAm with a strong focus on the ICT/BPO sectors. This has resulted in significant inflow of FDI into the region with a growing share from the ICT/BPO sector and there is a natural synergy between US and Latin American firms.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Parikh provided insights on key facts in the Latin American Market. He mentioned “As we embrace Globalization X, organizations will work across countries in a more holistic manner. Globalization X is driving innovation and shifting the role of Providers from being operational to transformational. Avasant, as a leading Sourcing and Globalization Advisory firm, is proud to be a key catalyst across the region with the objective of making Caribbean and LatAm a mature destination for IT and BPO services”, added Mr. Parikh.

About Nearshore Nexus
Nearshore Nexus is the premiere outsourcing conference focused on Latin America IT services and BPO sectors. The Nexus conference is designed to generate business-specific knowledge and dialogue about the opportunities, risks and advantages of developing strategic relationship in Latin America. The concept of Nexus was borne from intense interactions the Nearshore Americas team has had over the last several years with potential buyers and investors. The interactions identified the following:
• Much of the data surrounding the Latin America outsourcing market is inadequate, erroneous or out of date.
• Quality, high-level conversations in the right ‘business environment’
• Opportunities to meet the top performing vendors and suppliers in the market need to increase.
Nearshore Nexus was conceptualized to catalyze the process of plugging the above gaps.
