ISM-New York March 2012 Report On Business at 67.4

For the fifth consecutive month, the ISM-New York Report on Business has shown a steady and robust growth. For the month of March, the number is at 67.4.
 
April 3, 2012 - PRLog -- New York City business activity expanded at the fastest pace in thirteen months, according to the survey taken b y the Institute for Supply Management-New
York (ISM-NY). The Current Business Conditions index rose to 67.4 in March from 63.1 in February.

March marked the fifth straight month that the Current Business Conditions index grew faster than the prior month, unprecedented in the survey’s 19-year history.

Future optimism increased to a 13-month high. The Six-Month Outlook index rose to 79.5 in March from 77.3 in February.

Purchase volume and employment grew modestly.  The Quantity of Purchases index (51.1 March vs. 45.5 February) continued its uneven performance. The
Employment index (51.2 March vs. 54.4 February) expanded back-to-back for the first time in a year.

Price/cost pressures ad vanced to a six-month high. The Prices Paid index rose to 59.3 in March from 53.0 in February.  

Business impediments were subdued, with “No difficulties” the most popular response. Skilled labor shortages rose to an above-average level, while working capital shortages fell to a below-average level.
