-- The H.M. Ambassador to the Netherlands based in Lisbon Mr. Henk Soeters has welcomed the creation of Safe Communities Algarve. Acting on behalf of Mr Soeters, the Honorary Consul to the Netherlands, Annelies Reugebrink, said that:
”I give an assurance to lend support to Safe Communities Algarve whenever necessary. Working closely together with the local GNR initiative Residencia Segura (Safe Residents Program), this initiative should also improve the safety of Dutch residents, in the resorts as well as in the more rural areas."
David Thomas Director of ISECA - the Independent Security Agency and founder of Safe Communities Algarve has, has welcomed this support as there are some 20,000 Dutch residents in the Algarve and it is important that they are well served in respect of crime prevention to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of crime
David said that since its inception just 4 months ago the Safe Communities Algarve web site had expanded considerably with some 25 crime prevention downloads including those provided by the police as well as links to overseas crime prevention advice available in 11 languages. Articles written by David on crime prevention were now available in many GNR (police) stations, in a move to forge closer links between SCA, the community and the GNR.
