Don Bosco Technical Institute to Host Yurak Memorial 5K Run/Walk

Feb. 6, 2012 - PRLog -- Don Bosco Technical Institute (Bosco Tech) will host the First Annual Yurak Memorial 5K Run/Walk at Irwindale’s Santa Fe Dam Recreational Area on Saturday, February 11, 2012. In addition to the race, the event will feature a health expo, a kids-only race, and live entertainment.
  All proceeds from the run will go toward the completion of Bosco Tech’s new Yurak Athletic Center (YAC), the school’s sports training facility and home of Bosco Tech’s nine competitive sports teams as well as community exercise classes. It is named after Bill Yurak, Bosco Tech’s late coach and athletic director who re-introduced the school’s football program after a 34-year hiatus.
  Race registration is $35 ($30 for groups of 10 or more) and includes racing fees, chip timing, custom-made commemorative t-shirt, finisher medal and goody bag. Online registration is available at and same day, in-person registration is available at the check-in table. Check in starts at 8:00 a.m. and the race begins at 9:00 a.m. The kids’ 1k Fun Run begins at 10:00 a.m. The health festival runs from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.
  The Santa Fe Dam is located at 15501 East Arrow Highway in Irwindale. The 5k course is ideal for everyone, from competitive runners to those who simply enjoy walking in a beautiful setting.
