Follow on Google News | Derby Lite is bringing a new kind of fitness program to San Diego!Time to pick out a derby name and dig out the fishnet stockings ‘cause Derby Lite is coming to the Serra Mesa Recreation Center! Ladies ages 18-69 will have a new fitness option that’s never boring and always rewarding.
By: Velvet Klaw Derby Lite uses the skills and drills of competitive roller derby for a modified-contact, non-competitive, very unique exercise class. Certified instructors lead high energy classes where ladies become healthier humans - physically and mentally - as they learn to skate a la roller derby. Each 90-minute workout includes off-skates dynamic warm-ups, on-skates skills and drills, upper body strength exercises and cool-down stretching. It's a balanced, whole body workout that's never boring, shows progress week after week, and brings ladies into a welcoming community like no other. Beginner level classes are set to begin at the Serra Mesa Recreation Center in late March with a free preview “Get In Gear” event scheduled for February 28th from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm. “Derby Lite classes offer a way of getting fit for ladies who are looking for something different”, said Teresa “Velvet Klaw” Salazar. “You don’t need to have any skating experience. We teach all the basic skills in a safe and fun environment.” About Derby Lite Derby Lite, LLC is a Chicago-based company that was founded in November of 2007 by Barbara “Queen B” Dolan. She gained a partner in Trina “New York Doll” Bockus in June of 2009. Together (and with lots of help) they run practices for hundreds of women throughout the Midwest, and run the business of “Roller Skating for Fun & Fitness.” To learn more about Derby Lite, please visit us on the web at: www.DerbyLite.net and on Facebook at: www.FaceBook.com/ End
