The U.S. Soccer Foundation & D.C. United Women Will Get Physical at the NBC4 Health and Fitness Expo

The U.S. Soccer Foundation, with the support of D.C. United Women, will set up a mini-pitch at the NBC4 Health and Fitness Expo to get children active using the sport of soccer. Children will also have the opportunity to meet D.C. United Women.
 
Jan. 10, 2012 - PRLog -- What: The U.S. Soccer Foundation, with the support of D.C. United Women, will set up an interactive area at the NBC4 Health and Fitness Expo to get children active using the sport of soccer. At the Expo, children will have the opportunity to play soccer, meet players from the D.C. United Women’s team, participate in arts and crafts and enter a raffle to win a special prize from the Foundation.

Who: The U.S. Soccer Foundation and D.C. United Women, W-League team.

Why: According to the White House Task Force on Childhood Obesity, one out of every three children between the ages of 2 -19 are overweight or obese. Soccer is unique because it engages participants at a high level of constant activity and helps provide children with the recommended amount of physical activity, as outlined by the Center of Disease Control and Prevention. The U.S. Soccer Foundation’s mission is to grow the sport of soccer at the youth level as well enact social change and positive youth development through soccer. This interactive space will allow children and their families to be exposed to the great game of soccer and its benefits as well as showcase the Foundation’s initiatives and impact.

When & Where: The U.S. Soccer Foundation and D.C. United Women will be at the NBC4 Health and Fitness Expo at the Washington Convention Center on January 14-15, 2012 from 9:00am – 5:00pm.
