Launch of Cliniminds' PG Diploma in Healthcare Insurance Management with IMA Nursing Home Board

Dec. 26, 2011 - PRLog -- Cliniminds Coimbatore Centre, a joint venture of KTVR Vijaydeepa Group with Cliniminds, New Delhi organized the launch event of its new course “PG Diploma in Healthcare Insurance Management” and announcement of its Internship tie-up with Indian Medical Association Nursing Home Board, Coimbatore at IMA Hall, Coimbatore on 20-Dec-2011 between 4 pm and 5 pm.

Dr V Janarthanan, Chairman, KTVR Vijaydeepa Group, welcomed the gathering. During his speech, he stated that Healthcare Insurance has come a long way in the past decade with more and more of the public becoming aware of the various mediclaim insurance policies available, thanks to the media. He mentioned that today’s population feels purchasing healthcare insurance policies is an investment towards their future healthcare needs and not an expense. He also remarked that the governmental policy of giving tax concessions for purchase of mediclaim policies by individuals and companies has played a very important role in this revolution.

Dr J Vijay Venkatraman, Head of Operations, Cliniminds – Tamil Nadu & Puducherry, stated that the “PG Diploma in Healthcare Insurance Management” course offered by Cliniminds is a broad based one wherein any interested graduate (Medical, Paramedical, Science, Commerce or Business qualifications) could join and learn about Healthcare Insurance completely. The student would undergo the theory sessions at Cliniminds Coimbatore Centre for either 2 months (week days full-time) or 4-months (weekend part-time) which would include both direct classroom as well as videoconferencing sessions with experienced faculty from around the country. During the course, students would be given hands-on training in simulated industry situations, which would help them in understanding the problems faced by hospitals as well as the Third Party Administrators and insurance companies. This period would be followed by 2 months of internship at the member hospitals of IMA Nursing Home Board of Coimbatore. As a result, after completing this course, the candidate would be ready to work efficiently in Hospitals, Insurance Companies, Third Party Administrators, BPOs and KPOs.

Dr J Vijay Venkatraman further added that though there were some courses in Insurance Management available, none of the courses focused on the Indian Healthcare industry which is unique in its own ways. He mentioned that this course from Cliniminds would help bridge the gap, as students would be able to readily refer to their course content online from wherever they are, through their unique username and password, and apply it in practice, for the benefit of the internship-provider. He stated that the students would get internships in Third Party Administrators and Insurance Companies also. He added that since this field was not dependent on any external factor, the job opportunities and career progression will be perennial, making this a recession-proof industry.

Dr A K Ravikumar, State Secretary, IMA Nursing Home Board, Tamil Nadu State felicitated the event and said that he believed this tie-up will benefit IMA NHB member hospitals in terms of getting skilled manpower for their health insurance claim processing activities in the long-term.

Dr K Neminathan, Secretary, IMA Nursing Home Board, Coimbatore appreciated Cliniminds for taking this novel initiative to address the issues faced by hospitals and patients with regard to processing of their health insurance claims. He said this tie-up was a very useful one for IMA NHB.

Dr R Palaniswamy, President - IMA Coimbatore, Dr V Shanmugasundaram, Secretary – IMA Coimbatore and Dr V Thangavelu, Finance Secretary – IMA Coimbatore felicitated the function and expressed happiness that such an innovative idea has been initiated at IMA Coimbatore for the first time in the country.
