-- Join Yoga 4 Peace (Y4P) on Friday, December 2 from 7:30 pm- 8:30pm for Yoga Nidra/Guided Relaxation, a fundraising event to support the Community Yoga Outreach Project (CYOP). This event will be the third monthly Yoga Nidra workshop taught by Carrie Hura.
Yoga Nidra is a deep, restful state that surpasses consciousness and the dream state and takes you to the third state: that of the awakened deep sleep state, or Yoga Sleep. Y4P is inviting you to explore this guided practice to gain a more restful state of being to help reduce anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and stress. Workshop participant Grace P. said, “This was my first experience with Yoga Nidra, and I am now a grateful fan of the practice. I just melted away into a peaceful state and felt more rested and refreshed than I have in a long time. I felt that rather than pushing into rest, I floated to that peaceful state of mind."
The suggested donation for Yoga Nidra is $15-$20. The proceeds from this event will go to make t-shirts for Community Yoga Outreach Project (CYOP). The CYOP partners with worthy organizations to bring yoga to under-served populations. Currently, Yoga 4 Peace (Y4P) is working with guidance centers, homeless shelters, title one schools and drug rehabilitation programs. The studio provides qualified teachers in order to service these communities. Y4P is on a mission to offer at-risk and in-need populations of the greater Detroit area an opportunity to experience the transformative powers of yoga at no cost.
The Yoga 4 Peace t-shirt design competition is open to the public and the winner will receive a three-month unlimited pass to the studio. T-shirt designs may be submitted to email@example.com. Voting will take place at the New Year’s Day Yoga-Thon and the deadline to submit designs is December 23.
Additional activities to support CYOP include the ongoing mat and prop drive. Anyone who needs to find a home for an older mat can drop it off at the studio or contact Colleen Burke, director CYOP at firstname.lastname@example.org.
