U.S. Chamber of Commerce and RecruitMilitary Schedule Veteran Hiring Event for Seattle on November 3The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the military-to-civilian recruitment firm RecruitMilitary will collaborate on a hiring event for military veterans at Safeco Field, home of the Seattle Mariners, on Thursday, November 3.
The RecruitMilitary- On March 24, the U.S. Chamber had already launched “Business Steps Up: Hiring Our Heroes,” a year-long effort to help veterans and their spouses find employment by means of veteran hiring events. The U.S. Chamber has scheduled more than 100 Hiring Our Heroes events across the nation through March 2012. Already scheduled to attend the Seattle event are Amazon, Argosy University, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, DeVry University, G4S Secure Solutions (USA), Georgia School of Construction, Grand Canyon University, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), ITT Technical Institute, Lockheed Martin Corporation, Military to Medicine, MultiCare Health System, Nalco Energy Services – Downstream, the National Veterans Employment Program (NVEP) of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, Northrop Grumman, Pacific Lutheran University Army ROTC, Shoreline Community College, Stanley Steemer, T-Mobile, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Troy University, USAA, Verizon Wireless, Waste Management Inc., and Zones. RecruitMilitary will produce five additional Hiring Our Heroes/RecruitMilitary Veteran Opportunity Expos in 2011—on November 10 in Dallas, November 17 in Charlotte and Norfolk, December 1 in San Diego, and December 8 in Houston. To maximize the number of employers participating in those events as well as the job opportunities for veterans and military spouses, RecruitMilitary is offering companies that are members of the U.S. Chamber and local chambers a 10% discount on the cost of their exhibition booths. Additionally, RecruitMilitary will offer further price reductions for small businesses (businesses that have less than 50 employees), and even lower rates for veteran-owned small businesses.
