SEFAR® Architecture To Showcase Vision Fabric at London Design Festival

DEPEW, NY… SEFAR® Architecture, a leading manufacturer of monofilament precision fabrics and fabric systems for interior and exterior architectural applications, has partnered with David Chipperfield Architects and ARUP to create a temporary installation showcasing SEFAR Architecture Vision at the London Design Festival in London, UK, September 17- October 16, 2011.

The London Design Festival is the largest design festival in the world, and this year’s event is expected to host over 250 events over a nine-day period. Now in its ninth year, the festival celebrates London as the creative capital of the world.

SEFAR Architecture’s Vision product contributes to one of the five main attractions of the festival, “Size + Matter,” which creates unique installations by teaming a leading designer or architect with a unique material or process. David Chipperfield Architects was paired with SEFAR Architecture Vision materials.

Sefar, ARUP and David Chipperfield Architects have collaborated to produce Two Lines, a temporary installation at Southbank Centre Square, located on the south side of the River Thames. The composition is a dialogue between two identical forms, different only in their orientation and metallic finish. Each form consists of a series of unframed glass panels with a translucent, metal-coated SEFAR Architecture Vision fabric interlayer and corresponding colored stainless steel connections. The installation appears at times opaque and dynamically translucent, changing over the course of a day

Other contributors to the installation include glass fabricators Glas Trösch AG, St. Gallen, Switzerland and Bischoff Glastechnik AG, Bretten, Germany, foils provider DuPont™ with SentryGlas®, planner Arup, London, England, and lighting designer Zumtobel.
