Kristen Powers was named 2010 Teen of the Year by PARADE MAGAZINE, and her show has a large teen following. The teen audience is an important one for Max A. Pooch's message.

The message makes a link between the 4,000,000 abandoned dogs that are destroyed and the countless tons of litter that are discarded annually. Both are the results of people discarding things without thinking about the cost, environmental impact or other consequences of their actions.

Max helps make that connection very real, because had he not been rescued from an animal control facility by Orphans of the Storm http://www.orphansofthestorm.org he could have been one of those 4,000,000 dogs who end up in the bottom of a landfill each year. He also physically demonstrates that finding and reducing litter is so easy even a dog can do it.
