By: Ben Pugh The Falstaff Experience's claim is supported by the Stratford Society. The claim is based around the key fact that that Landlord William Rogers' wife was the aunt of Shakespeare's god son, William Walker. Local legend talks of a great friendship between the Rogers and the Shakespeare family. A friendship so great in fact that it is believed that Shakespeare based his much loved comic character Sir John Falstaff on the genial Landlord William Rogers. Today visitors can walk down the original 16th Century cobblestones that the Bard himself will have walked on and visit a museum that shows what life was like in Shakespeare's time rather than simply what the Bard's life was like. Visitors to the museum can also read the actual inventory of the inspirational William Rogers. More information about the museum can be found at www.falstaffexperience.co.uk Creative Director Janet Ford said: "You can learn much more about a man from his choice of local than that of his house. His house he must keep respectable. Where he chooses to drink however, indicates his standards, the company he likes to keep and what he enjoys in his spare time. This makes our Shakespeare connection unique.
