Aug. 4, 2011 - PRLog -- www.QRpro.co.uk has been launched by a British company, aiming to revolutionise traditional advertising and marketing campaigns and to offer businesses a new interactive way to target potential customers.

Aimed at Smartphone users and those whose mobile handsets have an integrated camera, QR Codes (a two dimensional matrix barcode consisting of black modules arranged in a square pattern on white background), also known as 'Quick Response' Codes, have been used in Japan since 1994, but have only recently seen a marked increase in use in  western markets.

This increase in QR code awareness and use (UK, Germany and Italy are leading European usage rates –with UK usage overall up 31% in May) can be attributed to the growing consumer demand for new technology, such as Smartphones and tablet computers like the iPad. It has opened up new ways for businesses to target, interact and communicate with their customer base and target audience.

The system, which has been in Beta since May 2011, has already experienced phenomenal growth, with more than 600 businesses signed up in 2 months and number of scans rising between 400% and 1000% month on month.  A function allowing users to design, colour and brand codes experienced over 300 codes being created over two hours when first trialled at the end of July. This functionality will be released soon.

Designed to help users create standard or branded codes that are compact and can therefore scan more reliably, QRpro and the software involved has been created to make it easy for businesses of all sizes to create, schedule and track QR Codes.  With space often being limited in advertising and marketing campaigns, QR Codes can be used to enhance any printed materials, such as in magazines, newspapers, business cards or billboards, as well as being used on digital media to help encourage increased customer interaction.

By downloading a free QR code reader application, available on every mobile platform, the QR Code can be scanned by the potential customer who will then be redirected to piece of digital content such as a website, coupon, YouTube video or enable them to compose a text message or e-mail.

QR Codes can be tracked on a real-time basis using QRpro, in the same way that Google analytics tracks website traffic, with users being able to view the number of scans and also the time and place where the code was scanned by members of the public. Reports can be downloaded manually or scheduled to be sent to recipients on a daily or weekly basis.

Using its simple, cutting edge scheduling functionality, QRpro allows both businesses and advertisers to be creative with their use of QR Codes by changing the code destination (i.e. what happens once the code is scanned) in a random or fixed manner, by the minute, hour or day. This means that a single code already printed on a website, magazine, business card, flyer, poster or billboard could allow the mobile-phone user to access multiple content or pieces of information over a set period of time rather than just being directed to one specific piece of information each time the code is scanned. The system has also been designed to help users instantly create QR competitions, voucher codes and links or likes to social media networks like Facebook and Twitter.

Nial Chapman, co-founder of QRpro, had the following to say about the launch:

"QRpro has been created to help businesses leverage the benefits of QR Codes, in order to add value to their marketing campaigns and provide a new level of interaction for their clients. As well as accurately tracking and reporting on all engagements, businesses will be able to schedule and even randomise the media that their QR codes direct users to. This opens allows them to be creative with their campaigns, for example allowing a fast food operator to provide different voucher offers at different times of the day or even an ice cream brand offering different incentives based on the weather,  ideal for the unpredictable British summer!. It's hugely exciting."
