World Champion claims first victory for Cervélo’s new S5

(July 15, 2011, Lourdes, France) Team Garmin-Cervélo’s Thor Hushovd has won Stage 13 of the Tour de France.  On a tough 156km stage from Pau to Lourdes that featured an ascent of the massive 1709 meter Col d’Aubisque, Hushovd dropped climber David Moncoutié with 3km to go and rode straight past Jeremy Roy, who the pair had been pursuing for 30km, to cross the line solo for his 9th career stage in the Tour de France.  It also marked the first victory for Cervélo’s new S5.

Hushovd’s win continues a phenomenal 2011 Tour de France for the Garmin-Cervélo team, which enjoyed six days in the race lead with Hushovd, a sprint win for American Tyler Farrar aboard his Cervélo R3 on July 4, and a win for the entire squad aboard their Cervélo P4s in the team time trial.  That’s three wins on three different Cervélo models.

Cervélo has redefined the race bike category with the release of their newest road bike, the S5. The experience and feedback of Team Garmin-Cervélo pro riders including Hushovd played an integral part in the S5’s development, a bike so aerodynamic that it saves up to an astounding 30 watts at 25mph over typical road bikes.  Integrating windtunnel-proven aerodynamics with a balance of stiffness, light weight and comfort provided by their revolutionary BBright bottom bracket, Cervélo’s S5 raises the level of possibilities for all riders.  To learn more about this revolutionary frame, please visit http://s5.cervelo.com/en_us/bikes/2011/S5/.
