Ariel Abshire to Celebrate the Release of Still So New with Two Austin Shows Friday, August 12, 2011 at Emo's and Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Waterloo Records

July 14, 2011 - PRLog -- Nineteen-year-old veteran of the Austin scene, Ariel Abshire, will bring her big voice and confessional songwriting style to two shows in Austin celebrating the release of her upcoming album Still So New. On August 12, she'll play at Emo's along with Davis Mayfield Parade and Jesse Woods and on August 16, she'll be doing an in-store performance at Waterloo Records. Keep an eye for Still So New in their "Hear Texas Here" listening station. Abshire, who began her career at age 11 when she started singing at The Broken Spoke, was voted among the Top 10 female vocalists in the 2009 Austin Chronicle Readers Poll Awards. Her album Exclamation Love landed on Top 10 lists at The Boston Globe, The Austin Chronicle, Exclaim! and Some Velvet Blog, and was the youngest female to sing at the Austin Music Awards. Over the years, she has rubbed elbows with Pinetop Perkins, Clifford Antone, Dale Watson and countless other Austin greats and has shared the stage with Jeff Walker, Dale Watson, Kellie Pickler, Robert Earl Keen, Holly Golightly and the Brokeoffs,  Golden Arm Trio. Her second album, Still So New is due out August 16.

Raised in the "live music capital of the world," Abshire has always been surrounded by great music and the people who make it. She started singing classic hardcore country at honky tonks and dance halls with Texas music hall of famer Alvin Crow at 11 years old. For years, Austin's legendary Broken Spoke was her second home where her talents were nurtured by the likes of Pinetop Perkins, Clifford Antone, Dale Watson and countless other Austin greats. Her passion for live shows has not dissipated. "I really live for show days," says Abshire. "It gives me a change to be more extroverted than I usually am."

Abshire has just finished recording several guest vocal parts on Matt Pond PA's new EP, Spring Fools and also his forthcoming album. Her voice can also be heard on the soundtracks of feature films by Robert Rodriguez and Trevor Romain, numerous video game projects and an animated cartoon for Adult Swim's William Street Studios. She is currently performing with her band in venues across Texas and has recently shared the bill with Jerry Jeff Walker, Kellie Pickler, Roger Creager, Robert Earl Keen, Holly Golightly and the Brokeoffs and Graham Reynold's Golden Arm Trio. Her second record, Still So New, is being mastered now and will be released August 16.
