New Castle Toyota Dealer Confirms Prius PLUS Performance Package

July 13, 2011 - PRLog -- Price Toyota announces that an all new PLUS Performance Package is available for the 2011 Prius.  The new package, featuring components from the PLUS hybrid performance line developed by Toyota Racing Development, will combine the Prius’ loyal fuel economy with increased performance.  The 2011 Prius is currently available at the New Castle, Delaware Toyota dealership.

The PLUS Performance Package will only be available in limited quantity.  The package will add to the sporty look of the Prius by offering fun accessories, including front and rear bumper spoilers, a lower-profile stance, side skirts, unique rear diffuser, and 17-inch forged alloy wheels.  Limited edition PLUS logo carpet floor mats will also be added.  Consumers will be able to choose from four popular colors: Black, Blizzard Pearl, Classic Silver Metallic, and Winter Grey Metallic.  

The increase in performance comes when the PLUS Performance Package lowers the Prius 1.1 inches in the front and 1.3 inches in the rear, enhancing the hybrid’s on-road capabilities.  Drivers will experience improved steering response, quicker turn-in, and enhanced cornering ability.  A carbon spring steel tuned rear sway bar has also been added.  The sway bar reduces body lean, improving the maneuverability of the vehicle, especially when touring or mountain driving.

Although the package will increase the performance of the Prius, it will not skimp on fuel economy.  The Prius will still feature an aerodynamic design that reduces the hybrid’s drag.  A higher strength-to-weight ratio, the low-profile wheels, and 215/45R17 tires, which reduce rolling resistance, will also maintain the Prius’ exceptional fuel efficiency.
