July 13, 2011 - PRLog -- From tots to teens, there’s plenty to roll with

Castlemartyr, IRE. --- Ah, summer vacation.  Yes, it’s that time of year again -- time to pack the up the kids, head off to the beach (or the mountains, or the lake), and spend all day, every day, doing absolutely everything, all together.

Or….try something new, different, and tailored to satisfy not just the younger set, but their parents, too!

Five-star, family-friendly Castlemartyr Resort is pleased to offer just the thing: the Castlemartyr Kids Club.  From July 18 to August 14, the resort will be transformed into a recreational retreat for V.I.K.s (“very important kids”) and parents alike.

For the kids, the fun begins on check-in, complete with welcoming milk and cookies served in the dedicated reservations area.  Fortified with their snack, or perhaps a meal from one of the tot-tailored menus at the resort’s restaurants (The Clubhouse restaurant is great fun with its hip décor and huge window overlooking the golf course), the campers will be ready to jump in with both feet.  And Castlemartyr will be ready:  several premier local events outfits will be on site to entertain and educate with a full roster of supervised activities.

The host and hostess for the Kids Club, resident Irish Setters Earl and Countess, will oversee the proceedings.  Programs are organized according to age:  under-eight (ages 4-8) belong to the Little Paws Club, while older children (ages 9-12) are members of the Top Dogs Club.  (Baseball caps and t-shirts with logos ensure that no one gets confused about who’s who!)

Activities include:
•   Sports Day
•   nature walks
•   off-site excursions (Fota Wildlife Park and Leahy’s Open Farm)
•   Crafty Hands arts and crafts
•   horse and carriage rides
•   storytelling
•   dog walking and cycling
•   face painting and games, and
•   Kids’ High Tea every afternoon (no worries – the Chef knows his audience!), followed by a movie night.

(Teens will, of course, skip directly to all the other cool stuff, like golf, archery, angling, and clay shooting.)

Now for the really good part…while the kids are “away”, the parents can play!   The options are boundless.  Golf, perhaps?  Castlemartyr Links Golf Club, a Private Member’s Club, boasts an 18-hole inland links-style Irish Championship par 72 golf course designed by Ron Kirby.  For sheer indulgence, there’s The Spa at Castlemartyr, a 24,400-square foot wellness spa and fitness center that redefines luxury and personal service.  And for a memorable romantic interlude, couples can escape to the spa’s Couples Suite, with its double bath for sharing, or linger over a gourmet repast at the relaxing but elegant Bell Tower Restaurant.  Off-site adventures abound as well, from charter fishing, to boutique shopping, to tours of nearby heritage sites -- any of which the concierge will be delighted to help organize.

Refreshed and ready to swap stories of their days, families will find that Castlemartyr Resort offers myriad venues for relaxing together:  duck feeding; a pony & trap ride with Mr. Daly and his two Kerry Bog ponies; strolling the 240 wooded acres of the historic estate, complete with the awesome ruins of an ancient castle; billiards, Wii, and other games in The Kids’ Zone; or simply enjoying a snack on the flagstone terrace with a view of the formal gardens.

Participation in the Kids Club program activities costs €10 per child, per day (€15 per child, per day, if Kids High Tea is included).
