By: Cariden Technologies, Inc. With the new L1 integration, users can create and view their physical layer topology, including identifying L1 links in shared risk link groups (SRLGs), within the same model as their Layer 3 (L3) network topology. This capability gives network operators a more complete view of the network, enabling their planners to more effectively design the network to meet performance and protection requirements. By specifying how L3 circuits route over L1 links, users can simulate the impact this routing has on bandwidth utilization and network resiliency in normal operation and under failure conditions. Another new MATE feature, VPN modeling, allows users to visualize Layer 2 (L2) and L3 VPNs configured on their networks. This enables engineers and planners to identify and evaluate the effect of infrastructure failures, planned configuration changes, and traffic growth on customer VPNs. For example, service providers who sell strict SLAs with their business VPNs can use MATE software to investigate whether any VPNs should be rerouted before performing maintenance on the network, thus avoiding outages caused by congestion. Commenting on the new features, Alan Gous, Vice President of Product Management at Cariden, said, “Our mission is to build the most usable tools for managing the life cycle of networks from planning and design, through network engineering, to operations. These new features improve visibility into and control over the operation of both planned and existing networks. We believe they strengthen our position as the leader in traffic assurance for network operators.” About Cariden Cariden Technologies, Inc. is a software company serving telecommunications providers worldwide.
