With Youth & Ambition, Lithuanian Metal band “Velion” Signs to Itchy Metal Entertainment

May 23, 2011 - PRLog -- Born out of “Metal” and grown through “Music” is one of the signature mantras of Itchy Metal Entertainment and returning to the company’s original young, metal roots is a natural fallback position for the growing indie label. For their latest venture, IME trains musical lens on the Eastern European land of Lithuania. In the town of Gargždai four teenagers mix together heavy riffs, musical melodies and stringed harmonics creating a signature blend presented to the world as “Velion”.

Originated in 2006 between friends Lukas Damulis and Mindaugas Baginskas the band takes inspiration from inner emotions derived from the connection between human and nature. From youthful beginnings, the group continued to develop and evolve their sound and recruit additional members Vykintas Vainius and Mantas Mockus. The new combination eventually readied Velion for live performance. As the band continued to mature, they took that confidence into local contests and festivals including “Gyvai 2010″ securing the main prize as the best young band in the Samogitia.

“Given our company origins, I can always appreciate the journey of young musicians,” recalls Ed Fassio, Itchy Metal’s founder and President. “If you’re lucky enough to possess that kind of focus at an early age, it can be a life transforming experience.”

Velion released their debut single “Demonas Angelo Sparnais” in the first half of 2011. During the recording session, the band seized the opportunity to film the process, the result of which became the official “studio” music video for the track. It was this creation that ended up with IME’s Los Angeles talent team and a direct conversation quickly followed.

“I enjoyed how they assembled so much out of simplicity. The lighting, the angles and the editing were all well done,” adds Fassio. “I often have conversations with artists about creating original, compelling content and many times the financial constraints come into the equation. Velion proves that it doesn’t take a mega-budget to assemble an attention getter.”

Regarding distribution with Itchy Metal, Fassio continues, “They also brought unique ideas to the table regarding release plans which showed they were not only ambitious, but comfortable articulating a well thought out execution strategy. Equally impressive is that we did all of this over internet chat, a half world apart. I really liked that these guys are very solution-oriented.”

As evident through the addition of Velion, IME continues to look for self-starters with strong business acumen. For 2011, the label plans to capitalize on the group’s early enthusiasm and looks to help them put even more Metal on the map for Lithuania.
