Winning Team: TransActive, OHSU and Legacy Emanuel

March 3, 2011 - PRLog -- TransActive staff have been working for several months to foster closer collaborative relationships with medical care providers so that we may continue to expand the case management services we offer to families of children who may identify as transgender.

Led by Sheryl Rindel, LPC, our Client Services program manager, a strong foundation of cooperation has been established between TransActive and two of the most respected and progressive minded medical institutions in the nation - Oregon Health Sciences University and The Children's Hospital at Legacy Emanuel.

Our staff will be working closely with experienced and compassionate professionals in pediatric endocrinology and primary care to provide families with:

 A full range of primary care services, including access to clinicians 24/7 and appointments with Family Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.

Newborn through adolescent care (well child exams, immunizations, school/sports physicals)

Full-spectrum preventative care for men, women and children

Tanner stage monitoring

Evaluation for puberty-blocking and/or cross-sex hormone therapy

Beginning in March, TransActive will host twice-monthly Family Support Group meetings at the OHSU Richmond Clinic in SE Portland. The group will be drop-in based and will feature peer interaction for all parents, families and allies of gender non-conforming and transgender children and youth.

The Family Support Group is holding a meet and greet on Wednesday, March 16th and will meet every first and third Wednesday thereafter from 6:30-8:00pm.
