Congressman Billy Long’s promise: Real stuff, not fluff

Feb. 23, 2011 - PRLog -- U.S. Rep. Billy Long, R-Missouri, one of the 85 freshman Republicans in the 112th Congress, went to work quickly to address a top campaign priority by securing an appointment to the House Homeland Security Committee.

Rep. Long said he and his Republican colleagues on the committee would assert their authority to set spending priorities and address substantive issues—areas they found lacking in the performance of the Democrat-controlled committee from the previous session.

“We’re going to have a real, operational committee—instead of window dressing and fluff,” he said.
