FDC to Help Students Launch Newcastle News SiteNorthumbria University students have made a dream their reality with a new internet-based newspaper that will launch online with the help of Leicestershire design agency FDC.
By: FDC Studio The Quad’s Founder, Rachel McDermott, first contacted Leicestershire design agency FDC in February 2011 when she was seeking website design and branding assistance for the project. She had worked with FDC in the past and so they were her first port-of-call. McDermott said: “We are really excited to see what will happen. We all feel that there should be a student newspaper, and due to the news being increasingly popular on the internet we all felt like it was a good idea. The group of students have been great and we have kept communication open with our tutors but we did it all ourselves, and we are very proud of that. “By creating the paper online we can see how many people are reading it, and which pages are most popular. We also are very aware of the fact that news is heading more predominantly online; this is another reason for creating an online publication.” McDermott managed to achieve financial backing for the project from national law firm Irwin Mitchell, and when the website launches the team will look to increase funding by selling advertising space. McDermott added: “We have been sponsored by national law firm Irwin Mitchell for the cost of the production of the website and when the website goes live we will be looking for adverts from local businesses in order to create extra cash. If the paper is successful online and we can generate some profit, we will then look at creating a weekly printed publication.” # # # FDC is a creative design agency, providing professional website design as well as branding, email marketing, copywriting and graphic design solutions for small to large sized businesses. www.fdcstudio.co.uk PROFESSIONAL MARKETING SOLUTIONS ON AN SME BUDGET End
