Nov. 20, 2012 - PRLog -- For the third year running, FDC have designed and launched the ‘Beet the Best’ competition, aimed at educating farmers on how to grow the best sugar beet.

British Sugar is the UK’s sole manufacturer of sugar from beet, providing over 1 million tonnes in the UK. They provide 500,000 tonnes of animal feed from sugar beet pulp and they reprocess stones for building, lime for soil conditioning and soil for landscaping.

British Sugar launched ‘Beet the Best’ via a microsite whereby farmers were asked to answer questions on sugar beet. The site is ran alongside their website and the aim is to educate farmers, agronomists / consultants and industry members on the best practice to grow sugar beet. The competition encouraged growers to compete against each other by completing the online questionnaire. The interactive portal allowed users to produce a virtual sugar beet crop with maximum yield and profitability. The microsite is engaging and allows groups of people to get involved.

The competition involves participants to fill in an online questionnaire with the winning entries then taking part in an international study tour.  The competition is split into 2 rounds during November and December 2012 with the winners being confirmed in Early 2013.

FDC currently has a team of 20 people working together on a mixture of exciting projects across the spectrum of digital marketing and design, SEO and web development.
