New graduates 'should carefully consider internships'

Feb. 4, 2011 - PRLog -- People leaving university and looking for jobs in spa industries and other sectors should carefully consider internship options to ensure they are meaningful and could actually improve their employability, an expert suggests.

A number of university and school students are set to graduate from their studies this month, during the recession.

However, a careers specialist believes that many people could boost their employment prospects and social skills by opting for internship opportunities, as long as they are worthwhile.

Chris Morrall, managing director of Talent Transitions, said that internships can increase people's profiles within companies and boost their social networking skills.

However, he said: "Don't go and do an internship and bury yourself in the internship hoping it will result in a job. You still have to keep looking for jobs."

Mr Morrall added that people should still be looking to enhance their CVs with valuable skills when searching for job vacancies.
