Sports centre gears up for £1.5m refit

Nov. 18, 2010 - PRLog -- sports and leisure centre in Northern Ireland is set to receive £1.5 million in funding which is designed to totally revamp the facility.

Employing a number of people as fitness instructors and within other leisure jobs, the plans for Comber Leisure Centre include designs to create a much larger gym space and a better range of fitness equipment.

Local councillors hope to increase the amount of fitness equipment available from 27 pieces to a total of 65.

Billy Montgomery of Ards Council commented that the new work should bring Comber's sports centre up to date with the latest fitness developments, offering local people a variety of leisure opportunities.

He added that the move makes economic sense as it will attract more visitors to the area in the long run.

A new studio for dance and aerobic classes is also set to be incorporated into the plans for Comber Leisure Centre, which currently offers classes in things like boxercise and spinning.
