Follow on Google News | Morgan Strebler Receives Magic's Highest AwardMorgan Strebler, renowned mentalist has been named the recipient of a 2011 Merlin Award, the most prestigious honor bestowed by The International Magicians Society (IMS). The announcement was made by Tony Hassini, World President and CEO of IMS.
In the magic industry, the coveted Merlin Award is what the Oscar is to the movies, the Emmy to television, and the Tony to theater. Previous Merlin Award winners include: Harry Blackstone, Doug Henning, David Copperfield, Penn & Teller, Siegfried & Roy and Criss Angel. The Merlin Award is presented to those magicians who have achieved the highest level in their craft, both on the national and international stage. The criteria that the voting members consider are talent, showmanship, originality, skills, and above all the rare ability to entertain under any conditions. The IMS placed special recognition and emphasis on Morgan’s legendary metal bending skills by also naming him “Best Metal Bending Magician”. Morgan has been working on a completely new live show that will incorporate many different elements of mentalism that takes each audience member on a tour of their mind. Morgan is currently in negotiations to become the resident performer at the new Pat Boone Family Theater in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. About the Statue: In 1968, IMS selected over 100 art students nationwide to conceive the stunning Merlin Award statue. The winning design was carved and created in 1968 by Carol Michaud, a young New York University art student.
